Gerry Rogers Seeking Nomination for St.John's Centre

Filmmaker and health advocate Gerry Rogers announced today
that she is seeking the NDP nomination for St. John's Centre.

"It is a very exciting time in the history of Newfoundland and Labrador,"
said Rogers. "In our prosperity, it is even more important that we ensure
that the people of the province come first as we continue to develop our
resources and plan for the future. No one should be left behind."

Rogers, who has been a long time NDP member, continued, "I am very
excited about working with Lorraine Michael who has done an incredible
job speaking out for Newfoundland and Labrador as leader
of the NDP. I look forward to standing with her to represent the people
of St. John's Centre."

Gerry Rogers is best known as an internationally award winning filmmaker.
Among her credits are the multi- award winning film "My Left Breast" (for which
she won two Geminis and was invited on the Rosie O'Donnell Show) and the
films and "Pleasant Street" and "FERRON: girl on a road".

Rogers is also known for her health advocacy, especially her leadership role in
drawing public attention to the need for the Cameron Inquiry on the botched
ER/PR pathology tests for women with breast cancer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
